Behind the Scenes with Genesis:

Hanmann competes in Southern California while attending Savanna High School. With eight years of volleyball experience, Genesis has remained committed to developing his game and sharpening his skills at every opportunity. Although he may not be the tallest player on the court, he makes up for it with strong discipline and a highly competitive mindset.

Genesis models his game after Japanese volleyball standout and fellow libero Tomohiro Yamamoto. Known for his elite defense, quickness, and exceptional volleyball IQ, Yamamoto has earned widespread respect in the sport despite his smaller stature. Genesis hopes to one day reach that same level of mastery.

With his sights set on playing libero at the collegiate level, Hanmann approaches every practice and every rep with purpose, knowing each one brings him closer to his goals. He shared that Yamamoto reminds him “not to focus on his limitations but to keep being the best he can be.”

One of Genesis’s favorite volleyball memories came in 2023, when he won the SoCal Cup Winter Formal 15U Club Silver Division championship. Competing against some of the nation’s top teams and coming out on top was a defining moment, one he still reflects on often.

A few fun facts about Hanmann: his dream school is Johns Hopkins, and his go‑to pregame snacks are a chicken salad sandwich or an açaí bowl.
