Powerhouse Clubs Shine at SoCal Cup Winter Formal

Southern California’s Elite Programs Deliver Multi-Division Golds, Depth, and All-Tournament Talent in Thrilling National Showcase


SoCal Cup: Winter Formal boys volleyball was a thrilling three-day national event that took place at the Los Angeles Convention Center, December 12th-14th, 2025. From the 12 Open to the 18 Open divisions, every match showcased the passion and potential of these growing athletes.

“The SoCal Cup Winter Formal brought together the nation’s top boys volleyball clubs for elite competition, delivering three days of top-tier volleyball across multiple divisions,” said SoCal Cup Director Kendall Bilbruck. The event lived up to that promise, with standout performances defining the weekend and a special focus on the clubs that dominated across divisions.

Named the Top Overall Club for the event, Balboa Bay Volleyball Club set the tone with consistency and club depth. As one of Southern California's powerhouse programs since 1975, they secured gold in three divisions—17 Club with their 17-White team, 16 Club with 16-White, and 16 Open with 16-Blue—while earning bronze in 17 Open and 15 Open. Their strategic play and roster strength outshined the field, proving why they're a force in boys volleyball.

A staple in the indoor scene with its Asics-sponsored squads, MB Surf delivered high-energy performances. Finishing as runners-up in 13 Open and claiming gold in both 18 Open and 14 Open, the club demonstrated exceptional athleticism and teamwork. Their presence in the All-Tournament Teams across 18 Open, 17 Open, 16 Open, 14 Open, 13 Open, and 12 Open highlighted their broad talent pipeline.

Representing Northern California's elite volleyball scene, Bay to Bay brought precision and power to every set. They clinched gold in 14 Club and 13 Open, with strong showings as bronze in 18 Club and runners-up in 17 Club. Featured in All-Tournament honors for 18 Club, 17 Club, 14 Club, 13 Open, and 12 Open.

Known for their gritty, rockstar mentality, Team Rockstar turned heads with resilient comebacks and offensive firepower. They earned silver in 18 Open, 14 Open, and 15 Open, plus bronze in 14 Club, showcasing their ability to thrive under pressure. With All-Tournament nods in 18 Open, 15 Open, and 14 Open/Club.

Continuing to build on its reputation for strong player development and competitive success, Aspire Volleyball Club captured gold in 12 Open with their Thanos team, earned silver in 17 Open with Ironman, and added bronze medals in 17 Club and 16 Open. Their players received All-Tournament recognition in 17 Open/Club, 16 Open, and 12 Open, reflecting the club's effective coaching and rising impact on the national stage.

With roots dating back to 1989, Coast brought veteran poise and coastal flair to the forefront. Securing gold in 17 Open and bronze in 18 Open and 14 Open, their Victor/Berkeley squad led the charge. All-Tournament recognition in 18 Open, 17 Open, and 14 Open underscored their role in making Winter Formal a showcase of balanced, high-level volleyball from start to finish.
